Members
of the The Sam Houston Chapter of the Texas Association for Play Therapy are invited to
apply for the Emily Oe Research Development Grant. SHAPT awards
one research grant annually to a deserving applicant. The grant
was named in honor of Dr. Emily Oe, one of the founding members
of SHAPT. A former university professor, Dr. Oe was an avid researcher
and practitioner in the field of play therapy.
The purpose of the grant
is to promote research in the field of play therapy. A focus
on play therapy research in the Houston metro area is preferred
but not required. There is no minimum or maximum dollar amount
for the grant. However, awards generally range from $200 to $500
annually. Grant recipients are required to present their findings
(how the grant was used) at a local SHAPT meeting. The grant application
is below.
The The Sam Houston Chapter of the Texas Association for Play Therapy also awards annually
one training scholarship for a graduate student that pursues course
work in play therapy at Sam Houston State University. The grant is
designed to help the recipient offset the cost of the course. The
award is $500 to one applicant annually. Recipients are required
to be members of SHAPT.
